Taxi Fare From Sri Lanka's Major Cities — Route Rates

Taxi fares from Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Negombo, and Ella follow published fixed rates for all major routes. Knowing the fare from your origin city before you travel eliminates negotiation stress.

Fares from BIA (Bandaranaike International Airport) are the most frequently searched: Colombo LKR 2,500–3,200, Negombo LKR 1,000–1,400, Kandy LKR 6,000–7,000, Sigiriya LKR 11,000–13,000.

Fares from Colombo to southern beaches: Bentota LKR 4,500–5,500, Galle LKR 7,000–8,200, Mirissa LKR 9,000–10,500, Tangalle LKR 11,000–13,000. All via Southern Expressway with toll included.

Fares from Kandy to the hill country: Nuwara Eliya LKR 4,500–5,500, Ella LKR 9,000–10,500, Horton Plains LKR 5,500–6,500. Mountain routes add 15% premium for vehicle wear.
