Yes. The Kalutara Bodhiya (a revered Buddhist shrine) and Beruwala Fishing Harbour are both on or very near the route south. Short photo stops at these points can be arranged. A longer stop at Kalutara adds about 20–30 minutes to the journey.
The Southern Expressway (E01) is significantly faster — 65 km in under 2 hours versus 2.5 to 3 hours on the old A2 coastal road, which passes through many towns.
